Welcome to Nunawading Basketball; home of the Melbourne East Basketball Association and its representative teams, the Nunawading Spectres – one of Australia’s largest and undeniably successful basketball programs.
At present Nunawading Basketball facilitates basketball competitions and programs in-house for near 12,000 players, coaches and officials on a weekly basis. We have a large footprint via our proactive work within primary and secondary schools, along with being actively involved in various community events and proudly boast being recently awarded Basketball Victoria’s Junior Program of the Year.
If you’re looking to get started, Nunawading Basketball offers a variety of Introductory Programs encouraging fundamental skill development, or you can contact your local M.E.B.A. Domestic Club to join a team in the upcoming season.
The Nunawading Spectres are the representative teams of the M.E.B.A., meaning that the very best players from our Domestic Competitions are selected to represent Nunawading Basketball in State and National level competition. We are proud that more Australian Olympic and World Championship representatives have come through Nunawading Basketball’s programs & competitions than any other Association in the country. Be sure to check out some of the inductees into the Nunawading Basketball Hall of Fame!
Nunawading was a foundation member of the National Basketball League back in 1979, on the back of powerhouse performances in the old VABA. Our women were also one of the most successful teams in Women’s National Basketball League history, winning 6 x National Championships in the 1980’s.
