Meet the Darebin Falcons
Hello! We’re the Darebin Falcons, a key player in women’s Australian rules football in Melbourne’s northern suburbs. Competing in the VFL Women’s (VFLW) league, we’re the only stand-alone female club not linked to an AFL/AFLW team. Founded in 1990, we’ve dominated the scene, winning eight VWFL premierships from 2005 to 2015, and clinching the VFLW titles in 2016 and 2017. Our club has produced AFLW stars like Katie Brennan, Daisy Pearce, Paxy Paxman and Darcy Vescio, as well as top coaches Natalie Wood and Lauren Arnell.
VFLW Program Challenges
Despite our success, we’re struggling without a dedicated home ground. This forces us to pay high fees for training and game spaces, And without a permanent base, it’s tough to attract sponsors and generate revenue from canteen sales and events. We urgently need funding and facilities to secure our future and keep supporting women’s footy.
