Local school boy, CODY GIBBS and his family, need your help!

The Whitsunday community has been rocked by the news that our local schoolboy, Cody Gibbs has been diagnosed with a very rare Brain Cancer.

Cody has been diagnosed with Cancer of the Pineal Gland, located in the middle of the brain.

Treatment so far has involved surgery and a shunt, followed by radiation and chemotherapy.

Cody and his family, are friends and neighbours to several staff members of Whitsunday Escape. It is therefore an honour to join with The Rotary Club of Airlie Beach to raise much needed funds for the family, as they continue on the long and daunting journey with their son and brother.

It's the news no parent should ever hear, your child has Brain Cancer. 

Treatment so far has involved surgery and a shunt, followed by radiation and chemotherapy.

Due to the rarity of this cancer and its location, treatment has been a long drawn out and complicated process.

Eleven-year-old Cody started experiencing severe headaches and blurred vision.  As the seriousness of Cody's symptoms became apparent, Cody was rushed to Brisbane to see a Neurosurgeon where the official diagnosis was given in October 2018.

The physical impact on the family has been significant, with both parents having to relocate to Brisbane immediately whilst their teenage daughter remains in Airlie Beach to complete her education.

Home has been the Ronald McDonald house in Brisbane for the past 9 months. This funding will help ease some of the burdens and allow the family to stay in Brisbane for the duration of Cody's treatment.   

Donna and Dwayne are overwhelmed with the kindness and well wishes for Cody's speedy recovery and thank everyone for their support.

~ Cody is one of my closest friends and has been for ages, we picked him up from kindy and went to the park nearly every day. I miss him and hope he gets better so he can come home soon.
